Rogue Mocha Porter

Rating: 4 out of 5
Rogue Mocha Porter is a “microbrew” out of Oregon, and good for the most part. The first swig is a bit overbearing and too sweet, but after a few, it's actually quite good. It isn't overly hoppy (which is a popular trait in micros) and the malts are quite good. It does have chocolate in it, however, which is not one of my favorite things to add to beer.

All in all it is a fairly well thought out brew, with much to offer, but that first swig can turn a lot of people off to it. Its alcohol content isn't very high (I don't know the exact specs) which is odd for a nearly full flavored beer, normally you'd get higher numbers out of a malty beer. At first it had a bit of a bottle conditioned taste, but after having a few more, I don't think that it has been conditioned, or at least with very little yeast.

It is kind of expensive, and you have to either be a fan or just looking for a new experience to buy it, it is quite unassuming at the store but with a price tag of $8.99 where I bought it (and it isn't available everywhere). Overall, I'd say that this is a beer that you should try if you're looking for something new, but it isn't getting put into my regular line-up.

As a side note, this is my first beer review request, keep 'em coming cause I would just keep drinking my regulars if it weren't for visitors (well, I'd still drink others occasionally)
