Echo Chamber Politics

For the past several decades, the USA has been moving inexorably towards a 1 party system, with 2 parties only so that the illusion of political freedom can exist. We the People have accepted this and now, we have 2 parties representing the same thing have arisen to power, 1 to get the votes of the ultra whacko left and 1 to get the votes of the ultra whacko right, but the middle will still have to vote for one of them.

As a part of the illusion, there are psychotic elements on both sides that are filled up with the spirit of ultra partisan rhetoric and general jackassery. With the right-wing faction calling the left Fascist and the left-wing faction calling the right Facist. Because, as we all are well aware, being a Fascist is the absolute worst thing a person could actually be. Unfortunately, Fascism has been altered and redefined so many times it virtually has no greater meaning than a political version of STFU. The true problem is that neither side speaks with the other (unless you are a conspiracy theorist) and each lives in a nice little echo chamber where they speak and honestly begin to believe that there are tens of millions of people who agree with their every word. It's true of Conservative Talk Radio and of Liberal Blog Internet, the only people listening or reading are assholes that agree with the opinions spewed forth or "spies" for the other side to see what the "enemy" is up to.

The true problem is that we are so disgustingly far from what the Constitution and Declaration of Independence actually stand for that James Madison is spinning in his tiny little grave, as are the other founders (but Madison is the only one to be the shortest American President). The goal was ultimately to create a central government that had enough power to be capable, but only to the ends of protecting the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness of the American People. Certainly they were imperfect men living during an imperfect time, but many of the initial inequalities among men during their time have been addressed. The government that they created is still as near perfect as can be created by imperfect creatures.

But, as time has worn on our federal government has slowly and methodically taken power from the states (the Articles of Confederation created too weak a central government) until now it has become the supreme power in the country. Full of bureaucracy and let's face it, evil. The men and women who claim to represent us have over time grown complacent in their duties to protect our rights from an overly large and intrusive government. They only care about continuing to hold onto their scrap of the People's Power, caring only for re-election. None of them consider how they personally feel about a certain piece of legislation, as they hope to never be bound by the laws that they pass. Continual re-election means continual status of "above the law". Healthcare is just another example, they don't really care because they don't have a horse in the race other than their re-election. They don't have to use the "public option" or the "co-ops" that they are all jabbering about. My basic point: we need term limits for Representatives and Senators, perhaps if they knew that they would have to live under the laws that they passed they would be more thoughtful about how they destroy liberty.

The last POTUS that didn't seem to be actively against the American People is Bill Clinton, the last two haven't shown even a mild interest in our personal liberties or those of a free society. From the Patriot Act to the current meddling in private enterprise, George W. Bush and Barack Obama seem to be the the same man with different rhetoric. That's all that separates either of the 2 parties. I have decided that going forward I will not vote for any major party candidate unless I truly believe in candidate (so.. never).

Do you really think that the creators of our nation intended that one day the government they were creating would end up forcing banks to sell stock, and then telling the same banks that they couldn't pay the government back until the government said so? It is all about extension of power, and our current government (since 2001 especially) has been continually seeking crisis to extend their reach ever further. As Aldous Huxley said, "Permanent crisis justifies permanent control of everybody and everything by the agencies of the central government." Truer words were never written. In the case of a true war, We the People offer Our Power for a short period of time, but the current war is now over 6 years old, and no longer justifiable. And the economy has never been a justifiable reason to extend power.
