Attempted Murder of Free Speech
Biph
Monday, October 19, 2009

Recently, the White House has been going on the offensive against the most diabolical enemy of the state you can imagine, Fox News. That's right the White House is actively attacking a news outlet. Of course, that is free speech that they are really attacking, no matter how you want to slice it.

Some say that Fox News is disreputable to begin with, so the White House is doing the American People a favor. Those same people who say that are also the same pieces of shit that would say that the American People are too stupid to know what's best for them and would suggest that shoving legislation that the People do not want down their throats is in their best interest. The American People do not always want what's best for them, that is true, but part of being an American is making bad choices. We elected George W. Bush, and he sucked. We elected Jimmy Carter, and he sucked. But the American People made the choice. A lot of whack-jobs from the über-left are starting to sound a whole lot like Nazis, Fascists, and Communists lately. "We have the votes, so who cares what the People or the political opposition have to say."

As for the President and the White House attacking Fox News, well, they are allowed to rail against them on a personal level, but it has become policy. And the White House has a Constitutional responsibility to protect the rights of the American People. When the White House openly attacks and admits to monitoring the News Channel so they can come out and propagandize against the channel, they are attempting to bully and intimidate the channel into silence. They are not refuting statements made by the commentators on the channel, they are simply trying to ridicule the station by name calling, and claims that the channel is "just a wing of the Republican Party." Which is untrue as the channel was quite critical of President Bush, but the petty name calling is just further proof of 1 of 2 things: 1) Our society has fallen from civility so far that name calling from the President is perfectly acceptable, or 2) Barack Obama was far too inexperienced to be elected, since he does not have thick enough skin to be in the most scrutinized and analyzed job on Earth.

Something that is glaringly obvious to an intelligent and thinking person is this: Fox News is a news channel. Ultra-Left wing nut bags disagree, and they are just plain wrong. Have they watched the news on Fox News? Most likely not. They watch the evening pundit shows, political commentators, and assume that the news is the same. The programs hosted by Greta Van Sustern, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and Sean Hannity are not news shows. Those programs are for commentary. You may not like the commentary, but it is not a reflection of the news programming. That's like dismissing all reports from a news paper because you don't like the editorials, it's just plain stupid. They also seem to overlook that the morning program Fox and Friends is also not a news show, as much as Today on NBC is not a news show. Ladies and gentlemen of the left - Steve Doocy (sp?) is not a newsman, he is a weatherman on a morning entertainment show with commentary on news stories.

Personally, I don't care if people watch Fox News, they're entitled to watch whatever they want, afterall Big Brother and Survivor are still on the air. But for the President and his White House to deliberately attack and attempt to discredit a news organization because they don't like their editorials which question him is the most wholly unAmerican thing they could do. Fox News has a right and duty to question the actions of the President and those he surrounds himself with, just as CNN has that duty but only seemed to exercise it during the later Bush years. Silencing a news outlet is bad, even if it is a news outlet that you don't watch or like, because who's to say that the next President won't take a cue from Obama and try to shut down your news source of choice?
